Date: 27 September 2013
Maritime Asset Security and Training (MAST) Ltd, the maritime security and training specialist, is attending the Monaco Boat Show with experts demonstrating the MAST single source security umbrella for Superyachts, following a highly successful showcase of its services at the Cannes and Southampton boat shows.
MAST’s will also be offering advice on piracy protection and discussing MAST’s on-board security services and training.
The MAST security umbrella covers every aspect of yacht security and is designed to run within the yachts’ management structure or within a ship yard’s optional package and support the owner’s representative and captain.
MAST offers consultancy services for new build or refit yachts. Its ISPS and regulatory compliance experts will accompany the company security officers to demonstrate how MAST designs procedural requirements that cover the systems, administration, risk assessment and training that ensure a yacht complies with flag, state, port and classification requirements.
At Monaco, MAST’s representatives, will be on hand to discuss its vessel monitoring systems and describe the information available from MAST’s Intelligence Centre used to provide advice for passage planning or response levels that can be accessed via its global 24 hour help lines.
MAST’s accredited training officers are also on site to discuss training courses held at MASTs own facilities or on board. These range across the entire spectrum of maritime security and safety on board, and on shore. From risk awareness training for crew to the IMO regulated STCW and ISPS training for ships security officers, anti-piracy and survival. MAST also offers flag and state/port certified courses along with MCA accreditation.
MAST’s technology team will be discussing integrated security systems, remote monitoring / alert systems and the bespoke equipment and software which create MAST’s smart CCTV, gangway protection and intruder alerting systems. They will demonstrate MAST’s electronic “keyless” locks and centralised lock down systems that allow for crew access in port, emergency procedures and provide a log of entry and alerts.
MAST transit security and close protection officers will also be discussing the operational procedures required to protect yachts in transit. They will demonstrate the years of experience and success MAST has in counter piracy operations and explain our various response services that include kidnap and ransom and armed escort.
Iain Davie Head of Sales at MAST’s Yacht Division said: “Developing security systems for Superyachts is a technical and highly specialist service that needs to cover multiple risks and protects the vessel and its crew and passengers from intrusion and potential piracy attacks and security breaches.
“We have seen significant growth in our business in this area over the past few years as security concerns increase and we have provided manned security teams on around 3,700 transits and successfully defended vessels against seven attempted attacks by pirates. Our security umbrella aims to work in conjunction with manned security to identify security breaches and offer high-level protection and monitoring. After a highly successful season at the Cannes and Southampton boat shows, we look forward to demonstrating our 2013 range of services at Monaco."
